The European Commission is planning to ban the import of eggs from Ukraine to Bulgaria due to the significant impact on the domestic production. The import of eggs has increased fivefold in the first half of 2024, reaching 2,618 tons, and the prices are lower than those of Bulgarian eggs, leading to pressure on the domestic market. The Minister of Agriculture and Food, Georgi Tahov, has highlighted that the current protective measures at the EU level are not effective in addressing the issue. Additionally, Tahov has supported Germany's request to increase the individual ceiling of the minimum aid in the 'Agriculture' sector up to 50,000 euros per enterprise.
