The first shipment date for dried fig exports in the 2021 season in Turkey has been set for October 6, according to the Ministry of Commerce and the Dried Figs Exporters' Association. The decision was made in a meeting with industry representatives following the completion of harvest field work in Aydin and Izmir provinces. The total export of dried figs from September 30, 2020, to August 28, 2021, reached 67.2 thousand tons, marking a 2% increase from the previous season, and generated 241 million dollars in revenue, a 4% increase. The meeting also discussed the potential negative effects of extreme heat on tree health and yield.
