The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) recognized the ECOGAN software system, developed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), for its contribution to more sustainable livestock production, aligned with international environmental goals. The recognition was delivered on October 15 in Rome, during the ceremony of the 80th anniversary of the FAO and the World Food Forum, where best practices and innovations in food security, sustainability, and the transformation of agri-food systems were recognized. ECOGAN was honored in the category "Sustainable Transformation of Livestock, One Health, Animal Health, and Reference Centers". ECOGAN is a digital tool that houses the General Register of Best Available Techniques (BATs) and allows for the calculation of livestock emissions and carbon footprint at the farm level.
