In Odesa region, the second year of the experiment on growing cotton is coming to an end. Farmers, together with scientists, are testing this crop in various climatic conditions to evaluate its potential for the Ukrainian agricultural market. The results of the cultivation, the adaptation of farmers to climate change, and the state support for this direction were discussed by the head of the deputy group "Agrarians of Odesa Region" in the Odesa Regional Council, farmer Alla Stoyanova. Initially, according to Alla Stoyanova, farmers and scientists faced serious challenges due to weather conditions. "We understood that heavy rains were expected, so we decided to harvest three weeks earlier than planned. We simply couldn't afford to lose the quality of the raw materials, especially due to possible rains," explained the farmer.
