The first batch of 17 tons of Cambodian durian has officially been exported to the Chinese market

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ken Fei Nong, stated that the first batch of 17 tons of fresh durian was exported on July 17 through HF FRUIT. This batch of durian was officially shipped by water on July 18 and is expected to arrive in China in approximately 9 days. He emphasized that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, a second batch of 3 containers of fresh durian will be exported as planned next week.

According to the latest announcement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Cambodia currently has 11,000 hectares of durian plantations, with over 7,000 hectares available for harvesting, and an estimated annual production of 120,000 tons.

On July 4, the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries issued a notice officially announcing that fresh Cambodian durian has been approved by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) for direct export to the Chinese market. This export trade was initiated based on the protocol signed by both countries in April this year. The resolution was made after the Chinese Customs General Administration completed a comprehensive assessment of Cambodia's durian industry, with 112 durian plantations and 30 packaging plants currently registered and approved by China.

The successful entry of Cambodian fresh durian into the Chinese market will not only bring more economic benefits to Cambodian farmers but also provide Chinese consumers with more high-quality options.
