The first case of nodular dermatosis outside of Catalonia is detected

Spain has recorded its twentieth outbreak of Contagious Nodular Dermatosis (NDC) since last October, when it was first detected in the country, and more than thirty export certificates for bovine products have been blocked to around twenty countries. The latest outbreak was declared last Friday in Aragon (the first case outside Catalonia) at a beef cattle farm of 130 cows in Borrastre, in the municipality of Fiscal (Huesca). Authorities are confident in its containment because the herd in that area was already vaccinated at 85% while the Government of Aragon expects this Monday to complete the vaccination of more than 18,600 heads of cattle, within the immunization plan following this outbreak. In addition to this outbreak, "all the measures that the protocols and regulations mandate" have been implemented, so this Saturday the sanitary emptying of the farm began and samples of susceptible cattle have been taken on farms located within a 20-kilometer radius, according to the ...
