The Government of Spain authorizes an expense file for experimentation projects in almond and carob

PALMA, Oct 11 (EUROPA PRESS) - The Government Council has authorized the Agricultural and Fisheries Improvement Services (Semilla), the public entity attached to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the start of the expenditure file for the promotion of agricultural experimentation projects. Thus, Semilla will be in charge of coordinating this research project, which will be carried out by Tragsa. The total amount is 1.2 million euros for the next five years (2021-2026). The Government spokesman, Iago Negueruela, explained at a press conference that the objective of this program is to investigate to improve agricultural knowledge, and improve and boost the competitiveness of the sector. It will focus mainly on two crops, the carob tree and the almond tree. In this sense, the main lines of work in the carob tree are the evaluation of the agronomic behavior of the most productive varieties, as well as the comparison between them.
