The Council of Ministers in Spain has approved a royal decree to flexible vineyard planting authorisations in response to adverse weather and market conditions. The decree, proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, will extend the validity of vineyard authorisations in regions affected by drought or excessive rainfall by one year, and in regions affected by market disturbances by three years. Holders of authorisations who do not use them can extend their validity without administrative sanctions if they communicate their decision to the appropriate authorities by 31 December of this year. The decree will come into effect after its publication in the Official State Gazette.
