The price of hay in Northwestern Bulgaria has increased this summer, with medium-sized bales now costing BGN 2.60 each, up from BGN 2 last year, due to higher fuel costs. Despite this, many farmers are making preliminary orders. Tony Atanasov, a farmer who has been selling hay for years, is trying to negotiate for bales to be transported to nearby locations to avoid having to sell at a higher price of BGN 3.30 per bale. He is also concerned about the impact of weather on mowing and the need to dry the grass before baling.
