The Horse Sector Council wants more focus on horse welfare knowledge in the Netherlands

The Guide to Good Practices, the Horse Welfare Check and the Horse and Welfare Quality Mark are examples of instruments that the sector council has introduced in recent years. It now appears that the interest in taking the KPW is lagging behind. According to the sector council, the quality mark is therefore not currently the most appropriate method to improve horse welfare. Further rollout is therefore suspended. In the coming period, more energy will be invested in embedding knowledge and information about horse welfare in education and training and setting up our own knowledge and innovation agenda in the field of horse welfare. Work is also underway to update the Good Practice Guide. Practical guidelines This is necessary because the definitions of well-being continue to evolve and science continually offers new insights.
