A month has passed since the beginning of 2026 and also a month since the official entry into force of the individual cattle traceability system, which the government has been promoting since the end of 2024. Since January 1st, in accordance with Resolution 19/2025, cattle producers must identify all calves with an electronic caravan at the time of weaning or before the first movement. And considering that most births occur during the autumn, these months are key for purchasing the necessary units. But how are these sales going? According to data accessed by Bichos de Campo, things seem to be going smoothly. During the month of January, producers bought almost 2,000,000 caravans, 13% of the 15 million that are estimated to be needed for this year.
