Canada: The large-fruited cherry variety Summit is in demand in Europe

The Summit cherry variety is a relatively new Canadian variety that has very large fruits with high taste, thanks to which it has already gained popularity among gardeners and consumers in Europe. In favorable conditions, they reach a weight of 9–10 g, and with moderate load on the trees with the harvest, the fruits can grow even larger. Miroslav Sitarek, a scientist at the Institute of Horticulture in the city of Skierniewice (Poland), notes this in a review of cherry varieties in the magazine “Gardening in Ukrainian,” EastFruit reports. It is noted that the fruits of the Summit variety have a wide heart-shaped shape and, depending on the degree of ripeness, are colored from light red to dark red. The trees are vigorous.
