Italy is set to become the continent's largest pear producer, with a forecasted yield of 405,000 tonnes for the next season, a significant recovery from last year's production which was severely reduced by adverse weather conditions. France is also expected to see a rise in pear production to 119,000 tons, marking a 15.7% increase from the three-year average. Other countries like Portugal, Greece, Belgium, and the Netherlands are projected to have higher pear harvests, while Spain is expected to experience a drop in production.
