The mainland has suspended the import of Taiwan pineapples from March 1 due to concerns about quarantine pests. This decision has been criticized by Taiwan's former DPP legislator, Lin Zhengjie, who accused Taiwan of unfair trade practices and ingratitude. He argued that Taiwan's economy relies on imports from the mainland, and that Taiwan's hostility and unfairness are unjustified. Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, stated that the suspension is necessary to prevent plant epidemics, as quarantined pineapples have been found to carry pests.
