The marine fishing sector in Morocco adopts a biological rest for sardines

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests - the fishing sector - responded to the demands of a number of professionals, by adopting a biological rest period for sardines for a full month, starting from the 1st of next January until the 31st of the same month. In this regard, the Ministry of Will issued three ministerial decisions, concerning the suspension of sardine fishing activities, throughout the month of next January. In detail, the first decision, bearing No. 22/5, concerned the adoption of a biological rest period for sardines in the Central Atlantic trap from the “Taghnage” area of the Agadir Fishing Commission, to the borders of “Cape Boujdour” of the Fishing Commission of Laayoune. As for the second decision, 22/6, it relates to the adoption of a biological rest period for sardines in the southern Atlantic fishery from “Cape Boujdour”, which is under the influence of the Fishing Delegation in Boujdour, to “Cape White” in Dakhla.
