The Minister of Agriculture in Egypt discusses maximizing the benefit from the wealth of palm trees and dates

Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, received Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Habib, Executive Director of the International Dates Council, and his accompanying delegation, discussed with him joint cooperation and maximizing the benefit of the Egyptian and Arab wealth of palm trees and dates. “Farouk” welcomed “Al-Habib” and stressed Egypt’s aspiration to enhance cooperation with the Council, especially since Egypt is one of the largest date-producing countries in the world, but manufacturing and exporting are not at the level of our ambitions and the volume of our production, indicating that the added value to the national product lies in maximizing the benefit from export. “Farouk” also pointed out that the capabilities and expertise of the Ministry and the scientists of the Agricultural Research Center are at the service of the International Date Council, noting the possibility of studying the establishment of a commodity exchange for dates, and the interest in ...
