The Mexican Ministry of Economy has proposed a draft agreement to import 70,000 tons of black beans, in response to increased demand and decreased domestic production due to COVID-19 and drought conditions. This quota, classified under tariff section 0713.33.99, will be in effect from the release of the modification until September 30, 2021. The goal is to diversify supply sources and meet domestic demand during periods of lower production. The duty-free import quota applies to beans classified under certain tariff items from August 15 to November 30 each year.
