Egypt's Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Dr. Sherif Farouk, is considering a proposal to distribute subsidized bread based on weight instead of number. The minister emphasized that the current distribution system will remain unchanged until the proposal is further studied. The ministry also plans to use digitalization and technology to track goods and deliver them to outlets across the country. The wheat stock in Egypt is more than enough to last for six months, with a goal of nine months, as the ministry strives to provide and secure the stock of basic commodities. Egypt's annual wheat needs are approximately 20 million tons.
