The Iberian Association of Olive Groves in Seto, Olivérica, has met with Joao Moura, the Secretary of State for Agriculture of Portugal, to discuss future projects and address issues concerning the olive industry. The meeting focused on promoting the benefits of high-density olive cultivation, such as productivity, environmental impact, and social advantages. Olivérica also expressed support for traditional olive cultivation systems and indicated a willingness to collaborate with traditional growers. The association raised concerns about potential restrictions on aromatic hydrocarbons in future European legislation and sought the ministry's assistance in adapting to the Mosh Moah legislation of 2026. They also urged Portugal to recognize alperujo, a by-product of olive oil production, as a valuable resource for composting or biogas generation.
