The Association of Polish Sugar Beet Producers has appealed to the new Minister of Agriculture to ban the import of Ukrainian sugar to Poland, citing a tenfold increase in imports after the suspension of quotas. They argue that this has contributed to a significant drop in sugar prices in Poland and neighboring countries, putting the Polish industry at a disadvantage. However, a representative of the Polish Peasant Party believes that negotiations with Ukraine and the EU are the better approach to addressing the issue.
