Russia: The predicted commercial catch of chum salmon for this year is more than twice as high as the level of the previous even-numbered year in Primorye

According to the decision of the Commission for regulating the catch of anadromous fish species in the Primorsky Territory, 460 tons of chum salmon are allocated for industrial fishing in 2024. Indigenous peoples are allowed to catch 27.5 tons. Industrial fishing is allowed in the Terneysky municipal district (MD), indigenous minorities are allowed to catch in the Terneysky, Olginsky and Lazovsky districts. The timing of chum salmon fishing in the Terneysky municipal district is from August 15 to October 10, in the Olginsky and Lazovsky municipal districts - from September 21 to October 25. The predicted volume of commercial chum salmon catch for this year is 130% (2.3 times) higher than the level of the previous even year, 2022, when the industrial catch was predicted to be 200 tons of chum salmon, and 92% more than the forecast level for 2023 - 240 tons.
