The Region of Murcia suspends fairs, contests, markets, or animal gatherings due to nodular dermatosis.

The Official Bulletin of the Region of Murcia (BORM) has published the Order of October 28, 2025, of the Department of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, by which preventive measures are adopted against the Contagious Nodular Dermatosis (DNC) virus. These measures will be in effect until the epidemiological situation evolves favorably and are mandatory as of October 31, 2025. This is a disease caused by a virus of the Poxviridae family, the first outbreak of which was detected on October 3 in a dairy cattle farm in Girona, and so far, 18 outbreaks have been detected in that province. In the Region of Murcia, no cases of the disease have been detected to date after examinations were conducted on animals that have traveled from risk areas. For this reason, and until the epidemiological situation evolves favorably, fairs, contests, competitions, markets, and any event or gathering of animals involving susceptible species will be suspended in the Region of Murcia.
