According to reports, from January to May 2025, Russia supplied nearly 6,300 tons of pastry products to China, with an export value of $18.4 million, representing a 12% increase in export volume and a 25% increase in export value year-on-year.
According to the Russian Agricultural Product Export Development Center, flour-based pastry exports to China amounted to $10 million, chocolate exports were $7.7 million, and sugar product exports totaled $697,000.
The report noted that flour-based pastry exports grew the most, with waffles and sweet cookies showing the highest increase. Waffle exports reached approximately 1,900 tons (a 1.8-fold increase), with an export value of $4.9 million (a 2-fold increase). Sweet cookie exports were 1,700 tons (an 8% increase), with an export value of 330 tons (a 23% increase).
In 2024, Russia's pastry exports to China totaled $155 million.
According to the Russian Agricultural Product Export Development Center, Russo-Chinese agricultural trade in 2024 exceeded $9 billion, doubling since 2018. Russia's agricultural exports to China in 2024 were $6.4 billion, with the largest shares being fish and seafood products (38%), vegetable oils (26%), grain crops (10%), oilseeds (11%), meat (9%), and processed products (5%).
