The Rusprodsoyuz association reports that the proportion of imported salt in the Russian market rose from 31.1% to 33.6% by the end of 2023. The main suppliers are Belarus and Kazakhstan, with contributions from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Iran. The rise in imports is attributed to issues with domestic product shipment and retail policy, with retailers favoring foreign or repacked imported salt. However, the association maintains that domestic salt producers have the capacity to fulfill local demand and boost exports.
