(Hongseong=Yonhap News) Reporter Park Joo-young = The Chungnam Province announced that it will lift the restriction on the movement of its epidemic prevention teams as of the 28th, as there has been no additional occurrence of African swine fever (ASF) in the province since the first case was reported in Dangjin last month. It has been 34 days since the first occurrence on the 24th of last month. The lifting of the restriction on the movement of epidemic prevention teams is possible after more than 30 days have passed since the completion of the culling and disinfection, and if no additional outbreaks occur in pig farms within the epidemic prevention zones, and if no virus is detected through the lifting inspection. The province conducted clinical, detailed, and environmental inspections on 31 farms within 10 km of the epidemic prevention zones, including the farm where the occurrence was reported on the 27th and the farms where preventive culling was conducted, and confirmed the final negative result. However, even if the restriction on movement is lifted for the occurrence farm, the pigs can only be housed after passing procedures such as the city/county inspection, farm evaluation and environmental inspection by the provincial and agricultural, forestry, and fisheries quarantine office, and a 60-day standing test. So far, the province has conducted two detailed inspections at intervals of one week on 28 farms within the epidemic prevention zones, and has carried out inspection activities every time the restricted farms slaughter and ship out, confirming that there are no abnormalities. Jeong Sam-il, Director of the Provincial Agricultural and Livestock Bureau, said, "Even after the lifting of the epidemic prevention zones, we will make thorough efforts to prevent the recurrence of African swine fever by thoroughly disinfecting the inside and outside of the pig houses and conducting barrier prevention and inspection management."
