The article highlights the significant challenges faced by the dairy sector in New Aquitaine, with a 25% decrease in milk collection from 2015 to 2021, leading to a situation where the region processes more milk than it produces. To maintain current production, the region's dairy co-operatives are struggling, and the situation is expected to worsen, potentially leading to a drop below the critical threshold of production. To counter this, Cniel is considering various strategies, including increasing herd size, encouraging intensive farming, and promoting export growth, particularly within the European Union. The Cniel Board is also developing a project for the 2030 horizon, focusing on five key areas: responsibility and resilience, attractiveness, competitiveness and promotion, food, and diversity and openness.
