The Spanish company falsified the expiration dates of canned tuna and used low-quality raw materials, 120,000 cans of tuna seized

The Spanish Civil Guard, in cooperation with Europol and the Italian Carabinieri, seized 120,000 cans of Plaza Chica tuna and 45,000 liters of low-quality olive oil due to adulteration. Most of the confiscated cans of the product were intended to go to small businesses and large food chains in Spain and Italy, mainly over the Christmas period. Tuna that failed to be sold in Italy was returned and relabeled in unsanitary conditions in order to be put back on the market. During a search of one of them, officers discovered a secret workplace with insufficient hygienic conditions.
