The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Bulgaria has conducted an analysis of the sunflower crop harvested in 2024, looking at 921 samples which represent 40.14% of the total harvest. The total harvest estimate is 1,436 Mmt. The quality of the sunflower seeds is measured by their oil content, moisture content, and impurities. The analysis showed that the majority of the samples met the quality standards, with 76.55% having an oil content of at least 42%. However, there has been a decrease in the share of sunflowers with high oil content values compared to the previous years, except for 2020. Conversely, there has been an increase in the share of sunflowers with lower oil content values this year, approaching the levels of 2020.
