The system of governance still under the hangover of monarchy and colonialism: Prashant Nair IAS

Kochi∙ Former Kozhikode District Collector and IAS officer Prashanth Nair stated that the governance system in Kerala is still not free from the influence of monarchy and colonialism. He was speaking at the 'Out of the System' session of the Summit of the Future 2026 organized by Jain University. He pointed out that the current governance system blindly implements suggestions from above. He emphasized that the administration should prioritize public welfare and not just follow what is said from above. The absence of modern facilities in private buses in cities is due to institutional inertia, he said. He added that the interests of some are causing the denial of facilities to a large section of the people. Land reform laws relevant to the feudal period still continue unchanged, which he called a regression.
