The eighth edition of the Buffalo Festival in Caá Catí, Corrienres, saw the auction of bubalines, a species similar to bovines but with potential for more profitable production. A group of about 100 producers, guided by CREA, conducted an analysis at the San Antonio ranch in Loreto, concluding that buffalo farming is economically promising, especially in challenging environments like marshes, due to lower production costs per kilo of meat. The festival highlighted the benefits of buffalo farming, including its environmental sustainability and the potential for improved animal welfare. Despite some challenges, such as a need for better commercial differentiation and marketing of buffalo meat, the industry is showing growth and has potential for both domestic and international markets.
