Musang King, renowned as the king of durians for its exceptional taste and originating from Malaysia, has experienced a significant price drop in recent years. Previously fetching up to 1.8 million VND/kg in its frozen state and around 800,000 VND/kg for local varieties, the price has now decreased to over 200,000 VND/kg, as reported by durian buyer Mr. Nguyen Tam. Despite its off-season status and lower yield compared to other durian varieties like Ri6 and Monthong, Musang King continues to demand a higher market price, with special types still going for about 400,000 VND per kg. The variety has also been introduced to Vietnam's Central Highlands and Mekong Delta, with successful harvests starting in the last four years.
