The Inhisar district of Bilecik in the Central Sakarya Valley of Turkey is experiencing the end of its pomegranate harvest season, with an estimated production of 7-10 thousand tons. The region is known for the production of the 'Cameltooth' sweet pomegranate, which is primarily consumed from September to November and used in making Turkish delight and fruit juice. However, the harvest has seen a decrease due to migration and lack of care for the gardens. The pomegranate, which fetched high prices in the past, is now sold at lower prices. Despite the challenges, the municipality is exploring ways to promote and increase production, and the farmers remain hopeful, attributing the survival of the pomegranate to its ability to bloom seven times.
