The Peruvian Ministry of Production has implemented a reproductive ban for the choro hydrobiological resource (Aulacomya atra) on the Peruvian coast, effective from September 20 to November 56 days thereafter. This decision aims to promote sustainable fishing, serving as a source of food, employment, and income. The ban is in response to the recommendation of the Instituto del Mar del Perú (Imarpe) and is subject to the evolution of the reproductive index of the resource. During the prohibited period, any activities related to the extraction, transport, commercialization, or storage of the choro resource are not allowed.
