What would be the impact on the agriculture of the EU (and Hungary within it) if the community were to expand immediately by 10 new members? The expansion would bring fundamental changes. Hungary has been a member of the European Union since 2004, and despite the two turbulent decades behind us, three-quarters of Hungarians are still supporters of remaining in the community. Most recently, Croatia joined (in 2013) the EU, while the United Kingdom left in 2020, but according to public opinion polls, the British have already somewhat regretted this step. Our country joined a larger wave of expansion in 2004, as ten states became part of the economic and political community. It seems that in the near future we may see a similarly intensive expansion process, as it is expected that up to 10 more countries could become EU members within a fairly short period.
