European melon growers are experiencing a good season despite low production, as they have received decent prices and are able to easily distribute in a tight market. The market is experiencing a shortage of melons, with Spain and Italy being the primary suppliers. The prices for Galia and Cantaloupe melons are around 7 euros per kilo, yellow melons are around 10 euros, and watermelons are around 1.30 euros per kilo. However, these high prices may lead to reduced consumption as temperatures drop and retail prices increase. The arrival of Brazilian melons in late week 37 may help, but high transport costs may reduce supply in the coming overseas season.
