Peru: This year around 20 thousand hectares of blueberries for export would be certified, which will mean an increase of 21%

(Agraria.pe) In 2022, the blueberry areas certified for export by Peru would reach around 20,000 hectares, which would mean an increase of 21% compared to the 16,535 hectares certified in the 2021 campaign, reported the president of the Inform@cción consultant, Fernando Cillóniz Benavides. In this regard, he highlighted this dynamic growth of the blueberry areas in our country. He explained that in 2016 only 2,188 hectares of this fruit were certified for export, in 2017 it was 4,637 ha; in 2018 it was 7,502 ha; in 2019 it was 10,913 ha; and in 2020 it was 13,697 ha. By regionHe detailed that in 2021, the region with the largest areas of blueberries certified for export was La Libertad with 8,523 hectares, registering an increase of +13.36%, versus the 7,518 ha of 2020.
