The IFFO marine raw material agency reported a 3.6% increase in powder production and a 6% decrease in fish oil production from January to December 2021. The total fishmeal production in analyzed countries is estimated to have increased to 2.443 million tonnes, with Peru, Chile, and India reporting increases, while the Nordic countries, the United States, and Africa reported decreases. Fish oil production, on the other hand, fell to 546,000 tonnes. China is expected to maintain record-level fishmeal imports in 2022, and marine raw material production in the January to April 2022 is predicted to be small, mainly from by-products. The aquaculture industry is expected to continue to dominate the demand for marine raw materials due to strict environmental protection standards.
