Tuna exports from Vietnam: Good signals from major markets

Exports of processed and canned tuna products tend to grow faster in the later months of the year. Also in October, tuna exports from Vietnam to some major markets increased compared to the same period. In particular, tuna exports to the US and Canada, after many months of decline, increased again in October by 6%. Alongside this, exports to Chile, the Philippines and South Korea continued to accelerate at galloping growth rates of 406%, 116% and 402% respectively. Among these markets, Korea is the most impressive, showing consistently high growth rates over the past few months. The country is currently among the top 15 markets importing the most tuna from Vietnam. Meanwhile, tuna exports to the EU continued to decline in October 2023. The value of tuna exports to this market reached only US$15 million in October, down 19% from the same period in 2022.
