Turkeys in Karabük’s Eflani district are being sold in the markets ahead of the new year. The meat, which is rich in iron, protein, and good for cholesterol, is sold at 400 TL per kilo when the bird is alive and 500 TL per kilo after slaughtering. The price of the turkey varies between 3,000 and 3,500 liras. Mücahit Aydemir, a chicken and turkey breeder, mentioned that the price per kilogram is 400 liras and that the price can be more affordable when bought in bulk. The turkeys are raised on a diet of barley, wheat, and corn in a natural environment.
