The Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) is taking steps to bolster the Turkish coffee industry and promote the country's coffee culture globally. In celebration of World Turkish Coffee Day, the ATO hosted a summit and mini festival, emphasizing the addition of Turkish coffee culture to the UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage in 2013. The event highlighted the economic potential of the global coffee market, worth $460 billion, and underscored Turkey's growth into a significant coffee market, with exports reaching $155 million over the past five years and finding its way to 146 countries last year. The chamber's efforts aim to not only preserve but also economically exploit this intangible cultural heritage by strengthening the coffee sector and passing on the tradition to future generations.
