Türkiye: Peach and nectarine production to reach 1.2 million tons, thanks to orchard modernization

The USDA forecasts that for the 2024-2025 season, Turkey's total peach and nectarine production will increase by 11% over the previous year, reaching a record 1.2 million tons thanks to favorable growing conditions. Peach and nectarine production has been trending upward for most of the past decade as farmers have modernized their orchards and increased peach and nectarine production. Farmers have switched to newer, higher-yielding trees. Nectarine production, however, has nearly doubled in the past 5 years as Turkish growers have expanded their production in response to strong domestic and international demand for these fruits. Domestic consumption of peaches and nectarines is forecast at 950,000 tonnes in the current marketing year, which will be an increase of about 100,000 tonnes year-on-year due to the expected increase in production.
