The Turkish Statistical Institute has released the 1st Plant Production Estimate for 2021, predicting a decrease in the production of cereals, vegetables, and fruits compared to 2020. Specifically, cereals are expected to decrease by 4.7%, vegetables by 0.3%, and fruits, beverages, and spice crops by 7.1%. However, there will be an increase in the production of certain crops such as oats, soybeans, and sunflowers, as well as a rise in tobacco production by 5.2%. Vegetable production is expected to slightly decrease by 0.3%, with tubers and root vegetables and vegetables grown for their fruits expected to see a decrease, while other vegetables will increase by 2.3%. Fruit production is anticipated to increase by 7.1%, with peaches, cherries, strawberries, and olives seeing a significant increase.
