Two first cases of wild boar with swine fever detected outside the "zero zone"

The Department of Agriculture of the Generalitat has reported the detection of 13 new cases of African swine fever in the province of Barcelona, two of them outside the "zero zone", the 6-kilometer radius from the first infected wild boar. Specifically, these two wild boars that tested positive were located in a housing development in Molins de Rei (Barcelona), so the area is expanded to the municipalities in the high-risk zone: there are now 14 localities. With the new 13 cases, there are now 155 infected wild boars located in Catalonia since the disease appeared in the municipality of Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona) at the end of last November. The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, has announced that this Friday a resolution will be issued to expand the restrictions to the natural environment in Molins de Rei and El Papiol and that the N-2 and B-23 roads will be reinforced with fences.
