The National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) delivered 2.5 tons of certified seeds of rice and yellow dent corn, along with 500 high genetic value forestry seedlings, to producers in the district of Aguaytía, in the Ucayali region. With this delivery, carried out within the framework of the Decentralized Session and Public Hearing of the Agrarian Commission, INIA aims to improve productivity, competitiveness, and food security in the region. The seeds correspond to the rice varieties INIA 509 La Esperanza, INIA Capirona, and INIA 516 Lm1-La Unión 23, and the yellow dent corn variety Marginal 28 T, developed by INIA through the Agrarian Experimental Station El Porvenir (EEA Porvenir). Due to their high genetic value, this genetic material offers higher yield per hectare, tolerance to the main pests affecting crops, and adequate adaptation to various climates.
