The Association of Vanilla Exporters of Uganda Limited (VANEX) is advocating for the diversification of crop sources among food and beverage brands and chefs to avoid supply chain disruptions. Uganda is proposed as a reliable alternative source of vanilla, known for its unique flavor profile and quality equivalent to Madagascar's. The country's vanilla also has a higher vanillin content and is grown sustainably without harmful chemicals. In 2022, Uganda exported 250 metric tons of vanilla and is capable of meeting increasing demand, with the product being available in various grades and certifications.
