AHDB's recent market report indicates a slight decrease in the UK's dairy exports in Q1 2024, with a total volume of 327,000 t, down by 2,300 t from the previous year. Despite this overall decline, there was notable growth in the export of cheese, whey, and yogurt. Cheese exports reached their highest quarterly volume since 2020, increasing by 9,800 t, and whey and yogurt exports also saw significant increases. However, exports of other dairy products fell. The majority of these exports were to EU countries, with Ireland, the Netherlands, and Spain being the main contributors, despite a drop in exports to Belgium, France, and Poland. While there was some growth in exports to emerging markets in the MENA and Asian regions, the total exports to non-EU nations still experienced a decline due to significant drops in imports from several countries, including Bangladesh, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and China.
