Ukrainian agricultural export capabilities have been significantly restricted due to the cessation of Black Sea exports, leading to a pivot towards the European Union (EU) for market access. However, the country encounters barriers in exporting key agricultural products like sunflower, soybeans, and beets, as it lacks equivalence in the EU. This limitation is particularly felt in the seed industry, where integration into the EU is vital for market access and compliance with EU labeling and standards. European seed companies already on the ground in Ukraine are navigating these challenges, underscoring the critical need for Ukraine to secure equivalence status for these crops to expand its agricultural market reach.
