Ukrainian honey producers have seen a significant increase in their global market share over the past decade, exporting five times the amount they did in 2012. In 2023, honey exports reached over 23,000 tons, generating $44 million in the first quarter alone. The European Union is the primary market, contributing to nearly half of the export revenue. Despite the ongoing war, Ukraine remains among the top five honey exporters globally, with the EU bringing in 112 million dollars in value in 2023, accounting for 92% of total volumes. Other markets including the USA, Turkey, Great Britain, and Japan have also imported significant amounts of Ukrainian honey. This success is largely due to the liberalization of trade with the EU, providing Ukrainian beekeepers with increased access to European consumers.
