[Korea Farmers and Fishermen Newspaper, Reporter U Jeong-soo] Ulsan Horticultural Farmers Cooperative and Gyeongnam Persimmon Horticultural Farmers Cooperative have joined as members of the Korea Fruit Farmers Cooperative Association. This brings the total number of fruit-specialized cooperatives in the association to 22. The Korea Fruit Farmers Cooperative Association recently held a special general meeting and announced that the membership of Ulsan Cooperative (Chairman Kim Chang-gyun) and Gyeongnam Persimmon Cooperative (Chairman Gil Pan-geun) was unanimously approved. The association was established in 2001 with the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of the fruit industry by building a close cooperative system among specialized fruit cooperatives. As the association marks its 24th anniversary this year, the expansion of its member cooperatives will further strengthen its nationwide organizational foundation.
