In the first quarter of 2021, Brazil exported 3,800 tonnes of eggs, generating $5 million in revenue, with the United Arab Emirates accounting for over 70% of these sales. The success of Brazilian eggs in the Middle East is attributed to their high quality and halal certification, which is crucial for Muslim-Arab markets. Katayama Alimentos, a company that produces both chicken and quail eggs, has been a key contributor to this growth, expecting to export 10% of its production, including 20% to the UAE. The global Muslim market, expected to reach 3 billion people by 2030, presents a significant opportunity for halal product sales, which are projected to reach $3.2 trillion in 2024.
